St Gabriel’s Catholic Primary School Year 6 Pupils

Hello and a very warm welcome to our Year 6 class page.

Our class teachers are:

Mrs Cooper and Mrs Battersby

We have many exciting upcoming events this year, and look forward to having you along for the ride!

Year 6 is a very important year, as the children will be doing their SATS tests in May, but we don't want any worries or stress from the children! These tests are just a small part of all the amazing things we do in our curriculum. Over the year, your children will gain in-depth knowledge of grammar features, will learn how to tackle tricky reasoning problems, and will develop intonation and fluency in their reading. We aim to prepare them fully in fun and engaging ways, so that when they come to look at the tests they are filled with excitement rather than worry!

Within other areas of our curriculum, the children will gain understanding of "Crime and Punishment!" throughout the ages; they will learn about other civilisations through our Mayan Topic; they will become scientific investigators in many of our Science lessons (through discovering mini beasts to analysing rotting food!); they will become explorers of the Modern world in our "Americas" topic; they will become Worship masters within our Collective Worships, where they will lead, and they learn all about many literary characters through our cross curricular fiction.

Our children will become role models throughout this year, by gaining new responisbilities as Prefects, Worship leaders, and leaders in Sports.

Thank you for ongoing support, and let's have an amazing year!
